Calmer Car Rides With Your Pet

Some pets love the car; many tolerate it. A familiar surface, a little routine, and the right gear go a long way toward a calmer ride for both of you.
Make the seat feel familiar
Pets settle faster on a surface that smells like home. A blanket they already nap on, laid over the seat, gives them an anchor.
A back-seat hammock adds a stable, non-slip surface so your dog isn't bracing against every turn.
Secure first, comfort second
Comfort gear is not a safety restraint. Use a crash-tested harness or carrier to keep your pet secure, then layer comfort on top.
For small pets, a hands-free sling with an internal tether clipped to a harness keeps them close and contained.
Build up slowly
Start with short trips that end somewhere good. Keep the space cool and shaded, and never leave a pet alone in a parked car.
